Description:

The Palladium-Times, a daily community newspaper nestled along the shores of Lake Ontario in central New York, is seeking a hard-working reporter with experience writing features and news. Our newsroom is small, which gives our reporters plenty of opportunities to work several news beats. This is a jack-of-all-trades position, and you will be asked to edit copy and take photos on occasion.

We have a hyper-local news focus here, concentrating primarily on events that impact residents of Oswego County. Our newspaper prints everything from local Little League scores to council and school board meetings. We have a reporter dedicated to countywide news and a cops and court beat. There is never a shortage of news, and we're looking for the final piece to the puzzle to ensure we can provide adequate coverage of all countywide events.

Requirements:

— Reporting experience
— Knowledge of AP style
— Familiarity with page design software (QuarkXPress) and photo editing programs (Photoshop)
— Ability to multitask
— Cool under pressure, with proven ability to thrive in deadline situations
— Team mentality
— Driver's license
The ideal candidate will possess a college degree with at least one to two years of experience. Recent grads are encouraged to apply.

We are an equal opportunity employer.
