Provisional position with end date of 4/30/2015

University Communications. Write and edit original, fresh, compelling and persuasive copy for internal and external marketing initiatives and communications materials. Ensure consistency of messaging and brand across all marketing communications including the development, editing and proofing of university presentations and written materials. Work with the Assistant Director – Content Solutions to establish web content strategies and priorities for the development of CMU’s website based on communications and marketing goals. Assess existing website content and collaborate with colleges, departments, centers, institutes, units and special programs to plan, create and enhance their web presence. Assist in monitoring the CMU website for outdated content and broken links. Perform other duties as assigned. Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the university website and online strategies.

Required qualifications include bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, English or marketing communications; ability to think strategically and advance internal client/university goals through communications; demonstrated creative writing ability; exceptional grammatical, syntactical, spelling and proofreading skills; knowledge of graphic design principles, printing processes and paper and ink characteristics; experience in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator; ability to manage multiple projects and work with deadline pressure; ability to collaborate with team members and campus clients, identifying needs and goals and articulating creative concepts and rationale; Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills to plan, set priorities and manage multiple tasks and projects; strongly self-motivated, enthusiastic and team-oriented personal traits.

Desired qualifications include 1-2 years experience. Hours:  Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm; evenings, weekends and travel as necessary.  Wage:  Salary commensurate with qualifications.
