Description:

The Washington Examiner is in search of full-time sharp, savvy web producers as we complete our transition to a political news and opinion website and weekly magazine. Web producers will work closely together as a team and with the newsroom to bring breaking news to our readers and manage the Examiner's web presence. 

Responsibilities include: 
  • Posting stories and blog posts as breaking news comes in
  • Searching for the latest news stories to bring to Examiner readers
  • Creating maps, charts and graphics to clearly convey data in accompanying articles
  • Editing stories for style and clarity
  • Tagging and organizing stories
  • Writing snappy headlines and captions using SEO techniques
  • Moderating website comments and discussions
  • Using social media (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit, Digg, etc.) to promote stories and encourage reader interaction
  • Editing photos, creating photo galleries and producing graphics as standalones and with articles
  • Creating video and multimedia projects

Applicants should have at least two years of news experience, preferably with an emphasis on copy editing. Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. Web journalism experience is beneficial; programming/HTML, photo and video editing knowledge preferred but not required.
