Description:

This full-time role will draw on your design experience with the opportunity to work on a broad range of products as you exercise your creativity and vision to increase the appeal of the content you are responsible for. As a Designer, Content Desk in our new media organization you’ll work on pages for our newspapers, magazines, and other products. We expect decision-makers at all levels of the operation, so you’ll have a true voice in the process and the ability to visually elevate the content. If you want to be a part of helping to create the future of journalism, to work for a new type of company with a truly collaborative environment, and to be given a voice in the content you are designing, then this Designer, Content Desk role could be just right for you.

To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Relevant industry experience, including some experience in pagination
  • Experience with InDesign and/or QuarkXpress is required. Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator are a plus.
  • The creativity to produce attractive pages that follow style guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Great attention to detail, including strong proofreading and accuracy checking skill; experience with copy editing and/or headline writing is a big plus
  • A strong understanding of production timelines and a demonstrated ability to meet them
  • The ability to effectively use available resources to produce high-quality, cost-effective content
