University Communications. University Communications merges strategy with creativity to produce content and products that communicate the CMU value. The Assistant Director/Photos and Image Marketing captures and guides the usage of the images that reflect CMU’s brand — its students, faculty, staff, facilities, events, environment and community.

The assistant director uses photography, video and at times writing to tell the stories of CMU, often as a way of engaging prospective students, alumni and friends/donors. The resulting work is used online, through social media, digital aps, emerging platforms, and traditional print products. He/she also leads the way in preserving these images of university history via cutting-edge technology.

Identify, prioritize and pursue opportunities to advance CMU’s reputation and brand via digital imaging. Plan and schedule photos, videos and image-based story development. Work collaboratively with the University Communications team to identify and implement strategic marketing opportunities for internal and commercial uses, in a variety of print, online and social media platforms. Select and edit best-possible photos for use in multi-channel communications. Build relationships with and serve clients across campus, at all levels. Assist in ensuring images are digitally preserved, in some cases becoming available for sale. Remain on the forefront of digital imaging techniques and technology.
