Conference Producer

Houston, Texas 

Reporting Relationship
The conference producer will report directly to the Senior Manager, Conferences in Houston.

 Position Summary
This is an opportunity to join Argus Media’s North American Conference Team.  Argus produces a series of events servicing different commodity trading sectors.  The conference producer will manage 5-8 conferences a year and will be responsible for working with Argus editorial, business development and industry contacts to develop conference programs.  The selected candidate will be responsible for event site selection and negotiation, speaker booking, event P&L oversight, management of on-site logistics and conference follow-up.  He/she will also work closely with the sales and marketing teams to help drive the commercial aspects of each event.

College degree required.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Three to five years of experience developing commercial conferences or similar live events
  • Ability to work with industry subject matter experts to create compelling programs
  • Demonstrated creativity in developing new, revenue-generating events or event components
  • Experience managing costs associated with a live event
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional, effective telephone techniques and customer service expertise
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time and take initiative in a dynamic work environment
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Experience with social media channels a plus
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese a plus
