Description:

This unique leadership position offers you the opportunity to play a key role in directing coverage in a multimedia newsroom in one of the most vibrant news cities in the world. As a News Managing Producer, you will oversee a team of reporters covering a variety of beats throughout the greater New Orleans area. More than just a story editor, you will be responsible for innovating coverage on NOLA.com while communicating with a separate staff of editors responsible for showcasing your team's work in The Times-Picayune. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience directing breaking news coverage and enterprise reporting online and/or in print. To be a good fit for this opportunity, you will need to have:
  • A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in developing and directing web-related projects/programs.
  • At least three to five years of newsroom management and/or team leadership experience.
  • Mastery of social media and digital interaction, including experience working with video and social networking functionality/technology.
  • An understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics and story structure.
  • The ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage multiple complex projects to on-time delivery.
  • Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
  • An understanding of the methods and tools used to deliver content across a variety of platforms and the ability to create efficiencies in the system to aid in content development and collection.
