Job ID: 1494877

At the Ada News we're hungry to learn everything that's happening in our city. Who's moving to town? Who's leaving? Who's running for office? Who's been ousted? Who got arrested? Who won last night's game? What's opening? What's closing? Who was born? Who died?

We don't rest until we know everything and have told our readers what we learned. If that describes you, too - if you're a modern community editor as comfortable with small-town life as you are social media - consider applying to lead our team.

We at the Ada News need a journalist with experience who can be our next editor and lead a newsroom of five seasoned professionals. You must be passionate about community news. You must be a wordsmith. And you must know your way around a modern newsroom, where we reach out to readers with website and social media updates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you want this job, show us that you know the journalism basics - ethics, style, libel and privacy standards, and public records’ laws. Prove that you understand community newspapers and can work closely with our advertising and circulation managers. Above all, make us feel your enthusiasm for learning all there is to know about Ada, and your eagerness to engage readers in print and online.

Ada may be a small community of 17,000 people in the rolling hills of Southeast Oklahoma, but our reach is anything but small. We're home to the Chickasaw Nation and the headquarters of its $12 billion business enterprises. Scientists from all over come here to study water quality at Kerr Environmental Research Lab. Police throughout Oklahoma come to Ada to the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training facility. We're also home to East Central University.
