This position reports directly to the Executive Director, Digital Content.


 The Associate Editor, Digital will help conceive/edit the narrative content produced and surfaced for Playboy’s digital platforms—specifically the content created for its native and web-based mobile applications, e-book imprint and social media channels. As such, any candidate will need to possess an innate understanding of how these digital properties interact as a single content chain.

The position is primarily focused on short-form lifestyle pieces with a heavy service element. To meet the requisite volume of such pieces—at least two per day—the Associate Editor, Digital is responsible for maintaining a pipeline of ideas/pitches from a roster of contributing editors/writers, helping shape the ideas/pitches with the most potential and editing submissions into their final form.

In addition, the Associate Editor, Digital will be tasked with consistently discovering and cultivating new talent in the following lifestyle realms—food, drink, travel, style, interior design and cars.

Back-office responsibilities will include managing the lifestyle digital content budget (in conjunction with the Digital Content Coordinator) and working with Playboy’s legal department to negotiate contractual terms with contributing writers and editors. Similarly, the Associate Editor, Digital will engage with the digital team’s copy and research staff to ensure all published digital content is grammatically and factually accurate. He or she will also work to outline a suite of content deadlines (again, in conjunction with the Digital Content Coordinator).


Experience with a content management system such as WordPress or Symfony is required.

Background in digital publishing is required (preferably at a media entity that published at least on a daily basis).

High attention to accuracy.

Self starter; can work independently and handle multiple projects at once.

Organized, dedicated team player.

Communicates clearly, concisely and persuasively in written and verbal formats.

Proven ability to interact well across multiple disciplines and levels within the organization.

Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.

College degree required.
