In winter, the snow-capped mountains will steal your breath. The all-season rivers, lakes and bike and hiking paths await your exploration. It’s historic Ogden, Utah, where the Standard-Examiner seeks a versatile multiplatform reporter to take on cops, government and general assignment reporting. If you have a passion for delivering hard news and would enjoy burrowing into the heart of sometimes complex local issues in one of the country’s most beautiful settings, this is a great opportunity.

You must be comfortable with digital and social media and familiar with an array of news-gathering tools. The job demands vision for recognizing important stories and the energy and adaptability to react quickly to produce copy, photos, audio and video on breaking news and other stories.

To be a good fit for the role, you will have:

-          A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field or the equivalent experience.

-          Proven ability in reporting and writing, preferably with experience in covering local governments and bonding transactions.

-          Ability to work independently under deadline pressure and juggle multiple priorities.

-          Solid understanding of news writing and photojournalism principles and experience in recording audio and video.
