Description:

The Traverse City Record-Eagle, northern Michigan’s largest daily newspaper, seeks an outstanding, committed journalist to become our City Editor. Job responsibilities for this key newsroom management position include reporting, writing and editing for our Business and Features sections, as well as managing two Features writers and three newsroom clerks.

The City Editor will closely work with the Executive Editor and Local News Editor to develop coverage strategies for our seven-day publication and digital offerings.

The Record-Eagle, daily circulation 20-25,000,  is considered one of the state’s best newspapers and has won Michigan Press Association Newspaper of the Year honors in its circulation category in each of the past six years. The City Editor is a demanding and rewarding job in a beautiful setting along Grand Traverse Bay and Lake Michigan in one of the Midwest’s top tourist destinations. Traverse City is well-known for outdoor recreational opportunities, as well as its food and arts scenes.

Interested candidates must have at least five years of daily journalism experience and some identifiable newsroom management background.
