Staff Assistant, Digital Content Specialist
This is an Exempt position which falls within the APA Union.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF CORE DUTIES: The Digital Content Specialist is responsible for improving and growing the university's digital presence including the institution's Extranet, appropriate Web channels and social media sites. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the quality, timeliness and organization of cross-channel content projects to increase overall engagement by constantly looking for ways to improve content engagement.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The Staff Assistant reports directly to the Director of University News while assisting other directors in the division.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: The Staff Assistant may supervise subordinate professional, clerical and student employees assigned to the Office of University News.

1. Post content (written, photo assets, video) to the university's Extranet and other digital assets on a day-to-day basis.

2. Work with the directors to plan, coordinate, create, edit and execute Web content.

3. Interact with the university's digital audiences on Facebook, Twitter and other new and emerging social media platforms that are relevant to the university and its many constituencies.

4. Understand and spot trends in the digital world and recommend how to react to them.

5. Assist the university in identifying appropriate social media channels and tailor messages to the target audiences.

6. As a top-level Digital Content Specialist, provide consultation on complex projects.

7. Work on special divisional projects.

8. All other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree plus one to three years' demonstrated experience managing content for high-traffic digital properties.

2. Strong background in writing; a self-editor with a firm grasp of the English language and proper grammatical skills.

3. Full knowledge of social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr.

4. A sophisticated understanding of user behavior and an ability to apply these insights is critical.

5. Familiarity with analytics tools and how to leverage metrics to assist in making better and more informed content decisions.

6. Proven ability to work under stringent deadlines.

7. Comfort presenting to, collaborating with and advising colleagues at various levels across the university.

8. Solid organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Familiarity with Web tools, Drupal, HTML, CMS, CSS, Adobe Photoshop, ebooks, mobile devices, iPad, Kindle, smart phones, digital audio and video.

2. Understanding of social media marketing.

3. Ability to copyedit and proofread.

4. Monitor digital engagement analytics, create monthly reports and manage research projects to access ongoing efforts.

5. Love of learning and willingness to develop new skills in an ever-changing medium.
