Reporter needed

The Austin American-Statesman is looking for a reporter to help cover Williamson County, home to some of the fastest growing communities in the country. We are looking for a self-starter who can chase breaking and daily news while mining for A1 enterprise. The reporter would be based in the American-Statesman’s Round Rock bureau. The job calls for working some nights and weekends as news demands. We want someone who can break news quickly on the web, engage readers through social media and write in-depth, investigative stories in a news-hungry market.


Candidates should have at minimum a bachelor’s degree, should be familiar with AP style, with open government/open records laws, and should have at least two years of experience reporting for a daily or weekly publication. Familiarity with multimedia reporting is a must.
