CSP’s Leadership Conferences & Events division offers an outstanding opportunity for a Manager of Content.  This position will work out of our Mesa, Arizona, office reporting to the Senior Vice President, Conference Content & Trade Relations.

Job Description

CSP’s Manager of content requires leadership, project management and strategic planning skills to create enriching conference content relevant to all attendees, appealing enough to attract leading retailers and compelling enough to be profitably sponsored via the supplier community.

The Manager of Content builds relationships with operators and creates appropriate relevant content to assist Retailer Recruitment in meeting program requirements for attendance at conferences. This relationship building occurs with planned and spontaneous interaction within the operator community.

Content management also provides the marketing department with germane content to create print and online media support for assigned programs and supply the sales team with tools to sell conference products.

Additionally, the content team works succinctly with the meeting planner team, envisioning, creating and executing all elements of the conference or meeting programs.

Effective communication and strong organization skills are required to meet these challenges. Individual should enjoy working with others and autonomously. This position requires travel.

Responsibilities include:

·         Envisioning and developing conference theme and positioning

·         Developing specific Leadership Conference agenda flow and program content, business agenda as well as networking elements.

·         Project management includes:

o   Theme creation

o   Overview write-ups

o   Agenda development

o   Speaker slotting

o   Detailed project management

o   Retailer interface for program development and recruitment assistance

o   Creation of initial marketing and sales materials

§  Continued marketing work with marketing department

o   Other duties as appropriate

·         Building retailer relationships and developing retailer attendance: 

o   Interfacing with trade in professional manner to build relationships.

o   Growing key relationships with retailers and suppliers

·         Interfacing closely with meeting and planning staff regarding logistical items related to programs.

·          Interfacing with editorial on creation and sharing of content

·         Content Manager may also act as project manager and moderator of selected CSP Insight Meetings, outlined by Director of EduNetworking™. 

Desired skills & qualifications


·         Excellent writing and communication skills.

·         Marketing and /or creative writing skills

·         Ability to multitask and work on several projects at once. Good organization is a must.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to manage and develop relationships both internally and externally.

·         Ability to work independently as a member of a fast-paced team.

·         A healthy dose of curiosity and willingness to continually learn the convenience & retail petroleum industry and the foodservice industry, staying on top of emerging trends.

·         Good storytelling techniques.

·         Ability to negotiate.

·         Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

·         Strong experience using Microsoft office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook.

·         ACT! experience a plus.


·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

·         Convenience retailing and/or foodservice industry experience a plus.

·         Marketing and public relations background a plus

·         Moderation or teaching experience a plus.
