We are looking for a reporter with at least five to six years of daily newspaper experience – someone whose been producing great reporting for several years but is ready to take on more of a leadership role. We are looking for someone with a demonstrated ability to cultivate sources and gain trust in the community. This person should have the AP Stylebook committed to memory, be able to craft well-written stories on deadline and help mentor the younger reporters on our staff.

The Marietta Daily Journal is committed to watchdog journalism and we’re trying to rebuild our staff with watchdog journalists under new editorial leadership. Do not apply for this position if you’ve ever considered a career in public relations or fancy yourself as a budding novelist. This position requires a healthy dose of curiosity and skepticism as you will be called upon to produce three to five quality stories per week while also helping the news editor edit copy.

Cobb County is home to 700,000 people and is teeming with stories just waiting to be told. We have the third largest public school system in Georgia, two universities, defense contractor Lockheed Martin, and a very active downtown Square in Marietta. The area around Kennesaw State University is booming with development.

If you’re a serious journalist with a competitive edge, we’d like to hear from you.

Send cover letter, resume and three samples of your best work to News Editor Leo Hohmann at Subject lines in emails should read "Senior Reporter." No phone calls please.
