Job Description: The New York Times Editing Center, located in Gainesville, FL is expanding to hire two additional copy editors. Both editors must be quick, yet careful, and willing to multitask. One position is entry level; the other should have some experience in a leadership role.

Responsibilities: These wire service editors would work on the rim and in other roles as needed.  Must be willing to work nights, weekends and some holidays.


  • Some college required; Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred
  • Editing or writing experience required; editing or writing experience in a newsroom or on a wire service preferred
  • A passion for news and a sense of urgency to get the news out fast and error-free
  • The flexibility to master both AP style, and, in some roles, New York Times style.
