Description:

The Wichita Eagle is looking for a talented editor to lead our talented team in developing print and digital arts, entertainment and features coverage. The entertainment/lifestyles editor directs all coverage – and near-term and long-range strategy – for entertainment, fine arts, performing arts, health and lifestyles topics for digital and print publication. This editor will supervise two reporters and is also responsible for assigning and recruiting a lineup of freelance writers. Multiplatform responsibilities include our weekly entertainment tabloid section, Sunday Arts & Entertainment, weekly sections for healthy and home and garden, and three-day-a-week features page. The editor also works with reporters to develop digital channels such as blogs, e-newsletters, website section fronts and social media engagement.

A track record of developing reader-engagement opportunities and features is imperative. Our features reporters are recognized names in our community, covering topics of hot interest to important niche audiences for The Eagle and Kansas.com. The editor who leads this team will love arts, entertainment, dining out and a very wide and diverse range of features/lifestyles topics, including cooking, gardening, home improvement, health and well-being, and clothes and fashion. You don’t need to be an expert in everything, but you need to understand what readers care about and want to read, and be excited about finding new ways to engage them on emerging platforms.

If your interests can flip from concerts to cooking in the same minute, and you see digital channels as exciting opportunities to connect with readers on topics they’re passionate about, we want to talk to you about the opportunities in our newsroom and city.

To apply, send a resume, cover letter and links to your portfolio to Deputy Editor John Boogert, jboogert@wichitaeagle.com
