Description:

REPORTER/EDITOR  Massapequa Observer and Farmingdale Observer

Anton Community Newspapers, a leading chain of weeklies covering more than 70 communities in Nassau County, New York, needs a full-time reporter/editor to oversee and produce two well-established weeklies.

News experience is needed, of course, with at least a year of reporting/writing. Ideally, community newspaper experience. A willingness to dig, an eagerness to fill the paper with local people, local events, local news and local surprises are musts, too.

In fact, energy, stamina and a willingness to really get into the communities trump experience for this job.

The perfect candidate lives on Long Island and already knows the people and the communities. Hours are flexible but evenings are required quite often to cover meetings. Also, breaking news can make flexible hours suddenly inflexible.

Start immediately.

If you want to really immerse yourself--and your career--in super-local journalism, we want to hear from you.
