Description:

The Business Review, the top local publication serving the business leaders of upstate New York’s most dynamic business community, is seeking a sharp, energetic, ambitious social engagement manager to drive audience-growth efforts from inside the newsroom. This is an exciting opportunity to carve out and help define a new role for both this business journal and its parent company, American City Business Journals, profitable publisher of 43 business journals across the country.

In recognition of the direct link between content creators and their audience, the Social Engagement Manager is charged with helping lead efforts to monitor, engage and grow audience on all platforms — online, social, mobile, print, events, and more.

A strong candidate will have proven experience in running social media campaigns, and will crave working collaboratively with all departments to build a business journal following across multiple platforms, increasing audience market share in key vertical industries. Excelling at this job will require creativity, teamwork, resourcefulness, and an insatiable desire to achieve measurable results.

Priorities will include:
•Establish and support newsroom social media and SEO best practices
•Grow audience and engagement across all products and platforms
•Develop and lead outreach for, and publishing of, user-generated content
•Help set, drive and share ownership of traffic goals
•Work with other departments to ensure social media presence and outreach at Business Journal events
•Facilitate coverage of innovative trends in social media deployment by local businesses

Duties include:
•Develop and execute content strategies to consistently grow audience, engagement and The Business Review brand across multiple platforms
•Oversee and generate content for social media accounts
•Generate daily analytics that inform newsroom decisions and promote cross-departmental collaboration
•Develop social-media and audience-growth best-practices playbook for local market
•Solicit and vet contributors and user-generated content; develop syndication partnerships
•Creative cross-promotion of print and online content
•Assist with outreach on awards publications and events

Required skills

•Fluency in social media
•1-2 years online market and media experience
•Editing and headline writing skills
•Understanding and use of databases
