Are you the right person to become a key player in our ever-evolving, digital-first newsroom?

You're right for this job if you love breaking news and social media, if you're accustomed to curating, aggregating, composing and editing on the fly. If you're made up of equal parts urgency and eye for detail, can edit, report, source on deadline and understand that digital media is way more than moving print stories to the web.

If you hate, hate, hate, (hate) getting beat on a story.

If you're comfortable with a brisk work pace that includes constant story updates, working with photos and videos, acting as inside rewrite for our reporters, adapting content from print to web and back again,  and you're up on all the latest trends and multimedia bells and whistles.

Yeah, to most people this sounds a like juggling chainsaws. If you're right for this job, you'll see it as orchestrated chaos.

Our online editor is both gatekeeper, and content conductor.  He or she is where the buck starts and stops in the News & Record's  efforts to provide more news, information and entertainment to our readers faster than ever before -- with all the depth, standards and authority of our profession.  This person has solid news judgment, nerves of steel, an independent streak and is a valued team member.

We've got a lot to offer. The News & Record is owned by BH Media, a Berkshire Hathaway company. Greensboro, N.C., is a cool mid-size city with a quirky edge. It's a college town with lots of history, arts and culture, and the worst the weatherman has to offer here is the occasional ice storm and thundersnow (we'll explain later). Most winter mornings, there's not even frost on the car windows.  And, if you're dealing with rush-hour traffic in your current job... well, let's just say we call it rush hour, but you won't recognize the commute here.
