The Idaho State Journal, a 17,000-circulation daily in the mountains of Southeast Idaho, is searching for a full-time sports writer with copy editing and pagination experience. The Journal has a three-person sports staff that covers everything from outdoor recreation and martial arts to the sports played by our 19 area high schools and Idaho State University (FCS). Online, Twitter and interactive content are as important to the Journal as the print edition. Qualified candidates must have copy editing experience that can contribute to an error-free sports section. Writing and section lay-out duties are shared amongst the team and the ideal candidate will be able to work fast, cleanly and take suggestions and direction well. Live Twitter updates during games, e-mail alerts and utilizing video are all part of our aggressive Internet effort. Creativity in writing and an interest in non-traditional sports are essential.

The Journal is located in Pocatello, a city with a population of 58,000 located a few hours from Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Tetons and Salt Lake City. Pocatello has been ranked as one of the top outdoor recreation areas in the country as well as one of the best places in the U.S. for quality of life and to raise a family. The Journal covers Pocatello and several surrounding counties seven days a week, 365 days a year with a print edition that's earned consistent state, regional and national awards. If you would like to join our newsroom and help take our sports coverage to the next level, e-mail your resume and clips to Journal Sports Editor Chase Glorfield at
