Company: Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. (CNHI)
News network seeks multi-platform editor
Job Status:  Full-time
Ad Expires:
May 27, 2013
Job ID: 1488074

Are you a news junkie? Do you scroll through tweets before you even sit up in bed, and then spend much of your day browsing and reading the latest news? Have you seen the latest viral video? Are you following the Jodi Arias trial? The gun bill debate?

If so, CNHI's News Network needs a news hound like you to find, edit and curate stories for our newspapers and community news websites. We need someone to discover the gems among the stories reported each day by our journalists covering local news in 23 states.

You'll put fresh angles on the talkers for use in our network of 78 daily papers, more than 50 non-dailies and magazines, and 120 websites. You’ll produce multi-platform packages that stand out. You'll also coordinate freelancers, columnists and outside news agencies to find stories and content readers can't resist.

Do you know how to dig? You'll work with other CNHI editors - and reporters in three statehouse bureaus - to plan and deliver serious enterprise and engaging features.

This is a fast-paced job that demands someone who can write and edit for print and digital platforms. You must know how to package stories with photos, graphics, video, slideshows and rich data elements. You'll need solid ideas about using social media and search tools to draw readers to stories – and how to measure your results.

We want someone who's ambitious and hungry, but this job isn’t entry-level. You need the gimlet eye of a trained journalist with newsroom management experience.  And you need the ability to work and communicate with a team of people spread across the eastern half of the United States.

Is your adrenaline rushing? If so, consider joining us in our offices in Montgomery, Ala., an historic city that’s been the cradle of the Civil Rights Movement and the capital of the Confederacy. Send a half-dozen work samples, resume and a cover letter telling us why we should hire you to William Ketter at
