Digital Media Relations Specialist

 

Based in New York City and in consultation with the International Affairs team and Director of Media Relations & Public Information, the qualified candidate is responsible for breaking news-oriented content for distribution through social media outlets.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Writing press releases, blogs, news advisories, and feature stories.
  • Publishing, updating and maintaining news content on the organization’s website.
  • Contact with media; pitching news stories.
  • Developing public relations opportunities through both traditional and “new media” platforms.
  • Staffing press conferences/press events.
  • Assisting the Director and Associate Director of the Media Relations Department.
  • Other duties and responsibilities of this position as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in and familiarity with Web publishing and the use of social media to reach journalists.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of media, including social media, blogs, print, TV and radio, is necessary.
  • Knowledge and understanding of international events and issues of concerns to the Jewish community are essential.
  • 3 – 5 years prior related experience.
  • Experience coordinating with marketing staff and back-end social media technical staff a plus.
  • B.A. degree in Journalism, Political Science, Communications or a related field.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Some travel required.
