The National in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is hiring a news designer.
The position entails design oversight of production journalists who edit and build our national and foreign news pages, including the front page. The position requires coordination of graphics, and the encouragement of assigning editors to think visually to provide timelines, sidebars, factboxes etc.
There is forward planning involved in this role as well as the ability to design organized breaking news pages and beautiful news feature spreads.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working will all personality types, be the king or queen of multitasking, and thrive on deadlines.
The job requires confidence to lead design decisions and work co-operatively with other journalists to foster a culture that is both creative and professional.
Strong editorial judgement and a sense of humour are essential.
The National is an English-language newspaper located in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The full-colour broadsheet is published seven days a week by a team of ambitious journalists from around the world.
