This person will provide news and analytical coverage of fundraising in the U.S leveraged loan and high-yield bond markets, including CLOs. This person will write/collaborate on from five to seven stories a day about fundraising efforts, as well as contribute to daily and weekly commentaries. .The stories this person writes will provide should reflect a proprietary knowledge of market activities; specifically, reflect a personal insight into and knowledge ownership of market activities in this arena, as well as demonstrate the ability to dynamically link market activities together into meaningful analysis.

Responsibilities:

• They will interview major players in the field, including bankers, representatives of business, government, and academia. In addition to heavy telephone contact during business hours, this job includes extensive market contact representing S&P at conferences, and in source meetings both during office hours and in the evenings.

• This person will write/collaborate on from five to seven stories a day about fundraising activity and contribute to daily and weekly commentaries about fundraising activity.

• Conduct research of various print and online sources of financial reports to derive pertinent data. Digest information from these sources (financial reports, market interviews, other financial commentaries) and then produce comprehensive, cohesive stories on current market issues.

• They will utilize the information they have learned in order to represent S&P as a subject matter expert to the general press, giving interviews and placing relevant data at other publications, raising S&P’s profile. This may include writing and placing feature stories with third party outlets.

Required:

• Minimum of four to five years experience as a journalist covering the credit/debt markets; experience in the U.S. distressed market is a plus.
• A depth of contacts in the debt markets.
• Based upon experience and market understanding, the ability to know when a story is merited, to source market sources appropriately and to provide accurate financial figures and facts within the story.
• Strong technical writing skills necessary to keep up with the basic requirements of being a journalist.
• The ability to work with financial data is necessary to process the types of information that LCD handles on a daily basis.
• Excellent verbal & written communications skills are necessary to ensure that not only is the writing produced clear and concise, but that all interactions with the market, including interviews, are as effective as possible.
• The ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment is necessary because daily and weekly production of LCD news products is very much a team effort.
• Excellent social networking skills are necessary because of the significant dependence upon interaction with market players.
