We have an immediate opening for a Staff Reporter (Contract; opportunity to Full-Time) to be responsible for writing about careers and the financial industry. A confident self-starter, you will work with a team of global writers and editors based in London, Singapore and Hong Kong to develop globally relevant stories about Wall Street, asset management, accounting, financial technology and other sectors.

Essential functions:

  • Generate fresh daily ideas for content about recruitment, employment and careers in financial services in North America.
  • Produce two tightly-written posts per day
  • Write and/or copyedit a daily newsletter of posts relevant to job seekers and ambitious career-oriented finance professionals.
  • Maintain senior-level contacts in financial services institutions, recruitment firms and other organisations.
  • Collaborate with editorial colleagues in Europe and Asia, contributing U.S. angles to global stories.
  • Help commission content from third-party industry experts.
  • Further improve the eFinancialCareers editorial product by developing new, creative types of content and media that encourage more reader interaction
  • Drive site traffic by contributing to social-media and content-distribution strategies.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, finance or related fields
  • Excellent writing skills, ability to persuade finance firms and sources to participate in stories, genuine interest in the global world of finance. Comfortable with numbers.
  • Online journalism experience and familiarity with social media, SEO and other traffic-driving techniques. 
  • You must be able to write in a journalistic style and produce content that requires little or no editing.
  • A genuine flare for writing dynamic, interesting articles which engage readers and prompt them to interact with the site.

  • Experience range for role is entry level (1-3 years) to more experience level (3-5 years); dependent upon candidate’s experience
