Description:

The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, La., is looking for a skillful reporter who is passionate about government reporting, is motivated by covering the inner workings of the political system and has a desire to write stories that have local impact.

The ideal candidate will be an aggressive, energetic reporter who can develop sources, search public records, conduct hard-hitting interviews and tell a compelling story with depth and accuracy. We need someone who can tweet from a council meeting and later turnaround a front-page story on deadline, plus craft in-depth stories about the most critical issues facing city-parish government. This reporter will break news on digital platforms and provide multimedia content for digital audiences. He or she should also be adept at using social media to build sources and engage audiences. This senior-level reporting job requires strong analytical and investigative reporting skills, as well as solid news judgment.
