Government Security News (, which produces a daily e-newsletter, monthly print edition, weekly border security e-newsletter, executive interview videos, numerous Webinars, and the most prestigious Homeland Security Awards program in the nation, is looking for a top-notch journalist to serve as our Washington Correspondent.

Responsibilities include filing numerous articles daily on all aspects of homeland security -- including Congress, DHS, DoD, Justice, DOT, HHS, other federal, state and local agencies, think tanks, non-profits, etc., etc. Your coverage will include homeland security budgets and legislation, policy debates, technology innovations, as well as physical and IT security products and services from large, medium and small businesses. In addition, you will be expected to write longer, in-depth front page pieces for our monthly print edition.

You will be offered wide latitude in the scope of your coverage, but you’ll be expected to be creative, accurate, authoritative and prolific on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be well-educated, have at least five years journalism experience, an intimate knowledge of Washington’s power structure and bureaucracy, familiarity with trade publications, a knowledge of homeland security, and experience writing about emerging technologies (such as communications, cyber, video, electronics, etc.)

If you have first-hand experience building e-newsletters on software platforms, posting news and commentary to Facebook and Twitter, writing intriguing blog entries, and building Website traffic with creative uses of social media, that would be a particular plus.

Compensation commensurate with your experience.

Please send resume, detailed cover note that addresses our specific job requirements and identifies your salary expectations, as well as one or two links to relevant articles you have written, to:
