The Rapid City Journal is accepting applications for a Post Press Manager. The department is responsible for timely  packaging of our daily and weekly newspapers, advertising inserts, commercial print products, and mailings. The department staff operates and maintains a wide range of bindery and packaging equipment and works closely with our printing and advertising departments.

 The successful candidate will manage a multiple-shift operation in a deadline-oriented, quality-conscious environment. He/she will be responsible for ensuring production and quality standards are met throughout the department - within staffing and budget constraints and with an emphasis on safety, teamwork and efficiency.

 The Packaging Manager is responsible for personnel duties within the department, including hiring, training, performance evaluations/reviews/discipline, payroll functions, record-keeping, and other required tasks.

 We are seeking an individual with excellent organizational and communications skills, who can manage multiple projects and be flexible to handle changing priorities and customer needs. Prior managerial/supervisory experience is required. Mechanical abilities and production systems background are preferred. Forklift experience and knowledge of print bindery and packaging methods is desirable. This is a salaried (exempt) position that reports to the Production Director.
