NEW YORK PRESS SECRETARY

Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney seeks aggressive Press Secretary based in her Manhattan office to run district-based press operations.  Duties include media relations, developing and executing press conferences, drafting and distributing a wide variety of press materials and overseeing the Congresswoman’s social media efforts.  In addition, the New York Press Secretary will draft letters, advertisements, journal letters, newsletters, web content, op ed pieces and other written material.

Candidates must have exceptional writing, editing and oral communication skills, an ability to work under pressure, excellent interpersonal skills, media contacts, strong organizational skills and the flexibility to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.  Candidates should expect to work on weekends.  Preference will be given to candidates with previous media relations, public affairs or journalism experience and those who are familiar with the New York City media and political environment.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.
