The Associated Press seeks a Newsperson (GMS) for its New York City location. 

Responsibilities: * Work with clients to produce and edit their story using various software programs including tape-to-tape, DV camera decks, Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premier * Work under tight deadlines in breaking news situations, including travel with clients to breaking news at a moment's notice * Travel with GMS as part of planned event coverage * Shoot video elements for clients using broadcast-standard cameras * Shoot client stand-ups on location to include in client stories * Shoot studio interviews for clients * Operates remote camera/lighting equipment for coverage of stories, client-requested camera coverage in the field * Operates in-house (studio/live shot) camera/lighting and audio equipment for in-house story coverage and client-requested live and live-to-tape productions * Oversees status of studio and in-house GMS equipment and editing packages; reports equipment failures or problems to production manager, engineering, and FYI to other departments * Coordinates client live shots in the bureau and in the field * Maintains logs of equipment status (out for repair/new orders, etc.) * Oversees tape stock usage/ordering * Trains other technical staff where relevant on the proper use of in-house equipment * Transmit video story from the scene using FTP or other transmission options * Ability to lift and carry video equipment approximately 25 lbs. to and from the scene of stories, live shot locations * Work closely with Global Media Services in New York, Washington D.C and London to ensure that we are delivering on clients requests * Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in the field

Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree or equivalent-level experience. They should have at least 3 years field, agency news or television experience. The successful candidate must be skilled in the use of a variety of software and hardware based on the specific needs of the client. Those include DV cam editing, Final Cut Pro/Adobe Premier and delivery via satellite, fiber and FTP delivery.  The producer must be able to shoot and edit content from both the field and within a bureau setting. Have familiarity with international media including larger broadcasters worldwide. Knowledge of satellite coordinates/downlinks of the top stations worldwide. Knowledge of state of the art news gathering and transmission is preferable. Field experience is a must. The ideal candidate will be highly organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines with a demonstrated focus on detail and accuracy.  Ability to work through obstacles to complete a variety of tasks in a very deadline driven and dynamic newsroom environment.  Effective interpersonal skills and solid news judgment are critical. The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to travel both domestically and internationally at a moment's notice to the scene of a breaking news story. The ideal candidate must be willing and able to work all shifts including overnights and weekends. Knowledge and fluency of a foreign language is a plus. Advanced-level competency in written and spoken English is required. Authorization to work in the US is mandatory.
