Description:

 

The Key West Citizen, a 9,000-circulation daily newspaper serving the Florida Keys, is seeking an Editor. The position will oversee the daily newspaper and our Sunday magazine in a market that includes a 120-mile island chain with multiple cities, parks and wildlife sanctuaries. Minimum requirements include eight years editing experience at a daily newspaper, with at least five years in management. We seek a dynamic Editor who isn't afraid to lead, inspire, and, when necessary, push a staff of editors, reporters, designers and photographers. This is a difficult, high-energy job. The Publisher’s expectations are realistic, but elevated.

Job responsibilities include:

·      Reporting to and working with the Publisher in establishing focus and scope of news and editorial coverage, and establishing editorial policies

·      Editorial page coverage in conjunction with the Publisher

·      Responsible for a staff of editors, reporters, page designers and photographers

·      Directly managing the News Editor, Sports Editor and Magazine Editor
