Description:

Job Title:

The Journal & Courier seeks an experienced, investigative reporter to cover one of the newspaper’s top beats: higher education. As watchdog over Purdue University, the local branches of Ivy Tech Community College and other colleges in the area, this writer will have to dig. To say this position will require critical thinking skills is to put it lightly. Expectations are high. And the reporter should have mastery of video and social media to contribute to our digital-first operation.

Applicants should have five years reporting experience, preferably in higher education and/or government. He or she must have confidence in challenging officials and digging beneath the surface. With the former Indiana governor now leading Purdue, the spotlight is on this Big Ten school. Purdue is also home to hundreds of researchers, some Nobel Prize-winning, so this reporter needs to be able to quickly break down complicated issues and explain the work going on at the university to readers.

The Journal and Courier Media Group’s is an award winning and groundbreaking news operation located in Lafayette/West Lafayette, Ind.
