Job Title:

The Journal & Courier, an award-winning Gannett newspaper, seeks a Local Editor who is eager to coordinate a wide range of reporting for a variety of news formats — print, online, mobile and video. Leadership, planning and coaching are a must for this position, which oversees a staff of eight reporters. We are seeking someone with a demonstrated passion for local, community journalism and fluency with digital and social media. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience in a daily newspaper newsroom and at least three years of management experience with strong organizational skills. The right person will understand the necessity of maintaining the highest ethical standards while attacking the changing dynamics of the newspaper industry with a passion that seeks new opportunity. The Journal & Courier is a 35,000-circulation morning daily serving a nine-county area in western Indiana. The Greater Lafayette community is also home to Purdue University of the Big Ten Conference.

 

  

Qualifications

5 years of fulltime experience at a newspaper newsroom

3 years of management experience

Strong Digital and Social Media Skills
