CNBC Digital is looking for an energetic, experienced Editor to lead a new Special Reports unit within our cross-platform Strategic Content & News Partnerships Team. The Special Reports Editor will tap into the vast editorial resources of CNBC to develop standout news-related stories, features, trend pieces and other information of interest to our audience. The Special Reports editor also plays a key role in developing and executing the broader editorial strategies of CNBC, working with the TV and digital newsrooms on conferences, events, one-off multimedia projects and other editorial extensions.


Responsibilities:

• Brainstorm and develop special report concepts and themes, working with reporters and producers to develop story ideas.
• Maintain calendar, plan and manage assignments, edit all material including stories, slideshows, videos and other multi media assets.
• Collaborate with Homepage Editors, Promotional Teams and Partners to ensure maximum visibility for Special Reports content.
• Develop relationships with key editors on TV and Digital news desks, as well as editorial partners and CNBC contributors to expand content pipeline.
• Manage a small team of staff and an outside network of freelance business journalists.
• Coordinate the work of reporters, copy editors, designers, producers and others involved in delivering content.
• Attend daily editorial meetings
Qualifications:

• At least 5-7 years editorial experience, including at least two in an editorial management position and a high comfort level shaping and editing stories.
• A sophisticated understanding of business topics, with experience in at least one, and preferably more of the following areas: Economics, Technology, Personal Finance
• A skillful editing touch with news and feature stories. You must be able to quickly turn raw copy into polished, engaging stories with the edge, sophistication and authority our audience expects.
• Uncompromising attention-to-detail
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once
• Ability to mentor and guide writers and producers, to help them expand their skill sets and hone their professional abilities.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, coupled with strong research skills
• Creative thinker, able to connect sometimes softer feature topics/stories to broader hard-news macro themes.
• Knowledge and proven use of social media tools.
• Previous experience in a digital environment a plus, including experience of using content management systems, optimization techniques and performance metrics.
