About Corporate Communications
 
We work closely with company leaders to keep you informed about our corporate goals, accomplishments, and local and worldwide operations. We use many vehicles – such as TV, radio, brochures, face-to-face meetings, and our websites to provide timely and useful information about our programs and services. Our close relationship with the news media helps us inform stakeholders about issues and events that affect their electricity service, the Edison companies, and the electric industry overall. Our media team is on call 24/7. We manage crisis information during storms and emergencies that may impact service to our customers.
 
Position Overview
The RPA Senior Project Manager will develop and manage the strategic direction for high-level public affairs-related media relations activities within the Edison International (EIX) family of companies. The successful candidate will define and lay out media issues and initiatives for legislation and regulatory policy at the federal, state and local levels which impact the company’s current and long-term goals and brand.
 
•Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Policy, Political Science or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
•Must have five years of project management experience in media relations.
•Must have five years of experience executing and managing media strategies for high profile public affairs projects including regulatory, federal and state legislative issues.
•Must be bilingual in English and Spanish, including both written and oral communications.
•Typically possesses five or more years of experience in developing and implementing communications plans and strategies.
•Demonstrated experience formulating, developing and implementing media relations strategies and tactics to advance the company’s goals and initiatives.
•Demonstrated experience handling sensitive, confidential and/or controversial political, public policy and regulatory issues.
•Demonstrated experience responding to media inquiries and planning media events.
•Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams.
•Demonstrated experience leading and influencing the planning, development and implementation of specialized external communications projects.
•Demonstrated strong writing proficiency and experience using AP style to create press releases and edit written communications.
•Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively during high-level presentations to executives, officers, senior managers and other client organizations’ communicators on specific policy issues and communication projects.
•Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
•Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
•Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision-making, results delivery, team building and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
•Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
•Must be able to work in a 24/7, on call environment.
•Must be able to travel to Washington D.C., San Francisco, Sacramento and other cities as needed.
