Public Safety Reporter

 

Palm Beach County Metro section of the Sun Sentinel is seeking an aggressive and enterprising reporter to cover crime and public-safety issues in Palm Beach County. 

 

The successful candidate will have a passion for breaking news and the curiosity and resourcefulness to develop stories across multiple platforms. He/she also will have the ability to identify and develop relevant and timely enterprise stories for 1A, whether they’re on emerging crime trends, innovative local policing techniques or on personal safety and security.

 

He/she must have strong news judgment, the instinct to go after the story of the day and the multimedia skills to crisply execute that story for print and online, and present it with video and other multimedia elements. This reporter should be adept at social media and should use it both in reporting and in source development. 

 

Computer-assisted reporting and language skills are preferred. Strong teamwork and initiative are critical, as this reporter will work closely with other public-safety reporters and with reporters across the newsroom.
