Description:

The Marietta Daily Journal is seeking a high-energy, versatile reporter with sharp watchdog skills and a natural sense of curiosity to cover local government and general assignments.

Cobb County, located in the Atlanta metro area, is home to nearly 800,000 people. It doesn’t lack for news. We’re building a team that isn’t afraid to dig and find the real story, which often lies hidden just below the surface. We are not looking for someone to rewrite press releases or regurgitate quotes from city council meetings. We’re looking for someone with sound news judgment who is capable of asking the tough questions and then telling the story in a way that engages readers.

This position includes weekend work. At least two years daily newspaper experience preferred but will consider a recent college graduate with excellent references. Send resume/cover letter and three samples of your best work to news editor Leo Hohmann via email at lhohmann@mdjonline.com, or send to 580 S. Fairground St., Marietta, GA 30060. No phone calls please.
