Reporter – Financial Advisor IQ

Money-Media, a business division of the Financial Times, is looking for a reporter for a new publication for the financial advisor market.

Financial Advisor IQ will be a daily online service providing financial advisors with the news and intelligence they need to grow their businesses, with a focus on their clients' needs and the best practices used by their peers.

The successful candidate will have a lively interest in financial services and be able to write both breaking news stories and in-depth analyses. You should be curious about the industry and what makes our readers tick. Financial advisors are busy people, so a talent for writing crisp, compelling copy is essential.

Besides filing stories, the reporter has the opportunity to conduct video interviews, host webinars and travel to conferences.

This is a terrific opportunity to work on a new publication and make your mark in the industry. Money-Media, with the backing of the Financial Times, has ambitious goals for this product and this market. You will have the benefits of working on a start-up publication within a stable and successful company that has proven it knows how to create profitable publications within financial services.

Strong preference will be given to candidates with a financial industry editorial background, particularly those who have a good understanding of the financial advisor market and have pre-existing relationships with this market.Most important though is a proven ability to develop sources and become an expert on your beat.

This position will report into Financial Advisor IQ’s Managing Editor.   

Primary responsibilities

·         Report and write articles on the financial advisor industry

·         Contribute to videos, webcasts or other content as necessary

·         Establish and maintain close relationships with financial advisors and their firms

·         Travel to industry events and meet with sources to stay on top of the latest industry trends and to solicit ongoing market feedback about the product

·         On occasion, moderate webcasts or panels at events run by Money-Media or the Financial Times’ events group.
