Description:

The Bakersfield Californian, a locally owned 48,000-circulation newspaper in Central California, has an opening for a full-time letters editor/page designer. This position requires the employee to collect, edit and verify the accuracy and authorship of letters to the editor and locally produced op-eds, as well as maintain a database of letter writers. The employee will also design and paginate two Opinion pages per day (one on Saturday) and maintain the department's
presence in social media and on the Bakersfield.com website.

Applicants should have at least three years of daily newspaper copy editing and design experience. Solid writing proficiency and strong proofreading and editing skills are essential. Experience in page design and layout on pagination systems like Quark or InDesign is highly valued.
