Description:

The Daily Advertiser is seeking a business reporter with strong digital skills and an eye for spotting business trends. Knowledge of the oil and gas industry is a definite plus. Lafayette has one of the nation’s fastest growing economies and continues to lead the state and the nation in job growth and personal income. It is a regional hub for health care, entertainment, education and retail sales. The business base of the parish includes energy services, manufacturing, information technology, finance, tourism and other service-related industries.

The ideal candidate can identify trends, ask tough questions and explain economic concepts in clear and concise language. Candidates should have an eye for watchdog stories and will be expected to focus on original enterprise reporting.

Responsibilities of this position will include developing diverse sources in the business community, daily business and consumer reporting, a focus on oil and gas enterprise and engagement with our audience across print and digital platforms .
