Description:

Today’s hottest beat in the best news town you’ll ever work in is open to an enterprising, self-starting reporter who knows how to dig deep for stories. The Bakersfield Californian, a family-owned newspaper two hours north of Los Angeles, is looking for a city government reporter who will also help tackle some general political news, including two upcoming special elections. Candidates must have at least three years of newspaper experience and a proven history of finding and completing hard news, features and projects. They also should feel comfortable using social media as part of the job and be able to shoot photos and video as needed — or be willing to learn. Spanish skills are a plus, but not required. Send cover letter, resume and work samples to City Editor Christine Bedell, P.O. Box 440, Bakersfield, CA, 93302. Email: cbedell@bakersfield.com.
