Description:

The Bakersfield Californian, a family-owned daily newspaper two hours north of Los Angeles, is looking for a go-getting, versatile reporter to work a night general assignment beat. You’ll never be bored in this crazy good, unpredictable news town, and you’ll get to tackle a wide variety of assignments, from crime to politics to general features. And if you’ve got your own ideas for enterprise, there’s room for you to do that, too. Candidates should have at least three years of newspaper experience, feel comfortable using social media as part of the job and be able to shoot photos and video as needed — or be willing to learn. Spanish skills are a plus, but not required. Send cover letter, resume and work samples to City Editor Christine Bedell, P.O. Box 440, Bakersfield, CA, 93302. Email: cbedell@bakersfield.com.
