CNBC  is  looking  for a  talented  professional to be a Copy Editor. This is a non-staff, full time contract position on site at Englewood Cliffs, N.J.  Copy editors are responsible for maintaining quality standards for articles and other offerings throughout the Web site.   

Successful candidate will have strong understanding of grammar, spelling and language essentials as well as the Internet and its operations.  In addition, they have to be well-versed in business news and journalism. Knowledge of Internet practices and packaging also a must.


Specific  Responsibilities: 

* Copy edit  daily  stories and articles for with an eye to quality and high journalistic standards.

* Make sure stories are packaged and templated to optimize Internet appeal and get readers involved in the site.

 * Observe best practices in copy for Internet searchability and readership appeal. 



* 5+  years  experience  in  writing and  editing  in  business news. Ability  to  perform quickly in  a  high-volume,  multi-task/deadline  oriented  environment  and  fluency  with  word  processing  software  is  required.  .



* Must  be  able  to  work  a  flexible  schedule  as  needed,  including  mornings,  evenings,  and/or  weekends  when  necessary. 


* An exacting eye for crafting raw copy into inviting prose.

* Display  smart  news  judgment  and  awareness of how to present stories to different Internet audiences.   

* Strong  creative  headline writing  skills.

* Quick turnaround. 

* BA  in  related  field  desired 

* 5-7+  years  experience  at  large  online  content  destination,  such  as  a  major  online  news  site  or  financial  newspaper.

* Passionate  about  Internet  story  telling  and  creating  the  best  user  experience  on-line,  with  proven  experience  in  a  creative  environment.

* Web  production  management  experience  is  a  strong  plus. 

* Passion  for  CNBC  programming.
