Seeking Investigative Reporter Determined to Get to the Bottom of It
Location:
Ohio
Job Status:  Full-time
Ad Expires:

Job ID: 1475924

Description:

Enquirer Media, in downtown Cincinnati, OH, seeks a proven investigative reporter who is determined to get to the bottom of it, loves to dig into documents, and is meticulous and fair.

The investigative reporter will find out what’s being kept from the public that makes a difference in our digital and newspaper readers’ lives.

It’s as simple and as difficult as that. We need to know what we don’t know, the wrongs and the secrets that chip away at freedoms and quality of life.

We need a highly ethical reporter who can dig deeply into documents, fight open records battles, mine data, build rapport and trust with a range of sources and get under the surface.

The person we hire will help shape the job, but will bring to the role an area of specialized knowledge and experience that can serve as a home base for ongoing coverage as part of a broad portfolio of investigations. We aren’t setting boundaries; we want someone to help us push them.

Enquirer Media is a multimedia news organization. We tell stories on all of our platforms and with all of our tools, so a complete investigation might include deep databases, explanatory or expository video and planned social media conversation.

We need a reporter as comfortable conversing with authority as conversing on Twitter, able to be accurate and thorough in ways that reflect nuance and creative about how to convey all the most important information found in weeks or months of digging.

Requirements: 10 years reporting experience with demonstrated investigative work that includes document, data and/or open records successes; Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent experience. Excellent writing skills, demonstrated fluency in social media.
