Aspen Public Radio Summer Reporting Internship
Location:
Colorado
Job Status:  Temporary
Ad Expires:
April 5, 2013
Job ID: 1473288

Description:

Aspen Public Radio is seeking a radio journalist to work as a summer intern. APR has an award winning, four-person news team, which includes a news director, two full-time reporters, and a digital content manager.

The station produces several newscasts each weekday as well as a weekly thirty-minute newsmagazine. APR covers a disparate geographic and economic region from Aspen to Glenwood Springs and west to Rifle. During the summer the news team produces more than 30 hours of live broadcasts from the Aspen Institute.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated person whose responsibilities will include reporting, assisting with research, producing live broadcasts, blogging, hosting, and covering breaking news. There are also opportunities to interview the high profile decision makers who visit Aspen each summer.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is pursuing a career in public radio journalism. Knowledge and familiarity with public radio programming is a must. Aspen Public Radio is located in beautiful Aspen, Colorado – a rural area with the sophistication of a large city. It is an expensive yet engaging place to live where outdoor activities as well as the arts, culture, and intellectual pursuits are plentiful. A good work ethic and sense of humor are both required. To learn more about us you can go to www.aspenpublicradio.org.

Aspen Public Radio will provide a stipend of $5,000. The summer position runs from Monday, June 10 to Friday, August 23.

Applicants must provide a resume, cover letter and three work samples, including both written scripts and audio clips (in mp3 format), by March 22, 2013.
