EDITOR – Strong Community Weekly in Buffalo, Wyoming

The Buffalo Bulletin, a family-owned weekly community newspaper in Buffalo, Wyoming, has asked for our assistant in finding dynamic, highly motivated managing editor to lead the editorial direction of the newspaper. In this role, you will help generate story ideas (beats and long range), manage the weekly budget, integrate multimedia into coverage, cover your own beat and help maintain a high standard of excellence. This is a perfect opportunity for a young journalist ready for next career move or a seasoned veteran who wants the freedom to operate a true community newspaper! The successful candidate will be a great writing coach and a capable team leader. This is no desk job. You will lead a team of four reporters by example, taking on the toughest stories and teaching others to do the same. If you’re the kind of leader who enjoys being writer, editor, coach and mentor, this might just be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. You must also see the value of covering a small, growing and active community with great photography and compelling journalism, presented to the reader in eye-catching graphic design. We’re looking for someone who knows that all people have a story to tell, want to make a difference in your community, and feel that the work environment should be a positive place to spend your time; we want to talk with you ASAP.

Minimum Requirements: The successful candidate will have superior news judgment, be proficient in the English language and AP Style, and be an experienced copy editor with seven years of newspaper experience with increasing responsibilities.
