Job Description: Ecumenical News (www.ecumenicalnews.com), a leader in global ecumenical news, is searching for a senior-level managing editor to lead journalists work at its New York City office. The newspaper is at the forefront of international online news reporting and analysis on global ecumenical developments and other events, from a Christian perspective. Updated daily, Ecumenical News operates from its New York City headquarters and its editing hub in Geneva, Switzerland. Ecumenical News gives religious insights into news developments and reports on the intersection of other faiths with Christianity. The publication provides coverage of diverse Christian activity and promotes awareness of humanitarian, justice-related and charitable activities. Ecumenical News does not endorse or promote any particular church or denomination, nor does it seek to preach or proselytize in its news reportage. Primary responsibilities • Manage editorial staff, including full-time writers and freelance writers • Collaborate with Editor-in-Chief to oversee all editorial development and processes for story generation, edit stories, update online newspaper's homepage • Write stories for EcumenicalNews.com • Maintain the overall quality and timeliness of the content and meet the product’s editorial milestones for success • Establish and maintain close relationships with editorial advisors • Recruit and sustain contributing columnists • Coordinate editorial with marketing, social media activities • Work with other departments to develop website and expand editorial coverage Attributes/Qualifications The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in general and ecumenical news coverage and should have at least 10 years of reporting and editing experience. If you have an editor's eye for detail, style, tone and factual inconsistencies, can write compelling headlines, work well with your colleagues and have a strong grasp of AP style this could be the job for you.
