Sioux City Journal

The award-winning Sioux City Journal (circ. 35,000), recently named LMA Newspaper of the Year and twice named one of Editor and Publisher’s “10 That Do It Right,” seeks an editor with a passion for local news and a desire to grow digital and print readership in our expanding northwest Iowa, northeast Nebraska and southeast South Dakota market.

The successful candidate must be an effective leader with excellent hands-on management skills who effectively connects with our newsroom staff, our readers and the community. The position requires a degree in journalism, experience in newsroom management, exceptional verbal, written and design skills, budget knowledge and, of course, passion for our profession.

Sioux City, with a metro area population of 123,000, is home to an abundance of parks and trails, not to mention a plethora of activities along the Missouri River. Our historic downtown district hosts a vibrant arts community. A beautiful refurbished theater and new events center attract national touring acts and Broadway productions. Our schools are terrific and our streets are safe. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy local colleges and three minor league teams (hockey, baseball, indoor football).

The Sioux City Journal offers a competitive compensation package including comprehensive benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced journalism executive who seeks new challenges where their skills and abilities will be utilized to the fullest.  If interested, please apply @ OR send, fax or email a cover letter and resume with salary history to:
