We’re looking for an All Topics Producer / Interactives

 Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities

An All Topics Producer / Interactives is a digital media professional who can easily enhance, aggregate and display content from multiple sources or channels while aggressively identifying, developing and executing unique interactive graphics.


This producer must have a strong sense of urgency, a contagious energy, and major creativity. They must know how to optimize each digital story, presenting the most compelling timely and relevant content to our Atlanta audience and increasing site engagement. When optimization isn’t front and center, this producer should work to conceptualize and execute interactive graphics that visualize trends, breaking news, numbers, ideas, and other data while again, increasing user engagement on


An All Topics Producer doesn’t think outside the box, he/she works outside the box.



Has strong news judgment as well as understanding of business needs of our digital products and is able to display content accordingly.


70% Digital Optimization

  • Uses site metrics to manage content on channels, ensuring content is compelling, timely and relevant and maximizing traffic potential.
  • Quickly and consistently writes headlines, Web teases and other copy that is fair, accurate and error-free.
  • Provides “Web edit” of stories and other content.
  • Ensures content is optimized for search engines, by using SEO-effective words on story level pages and channels.
  • Ensures content is optimized for increased engagement by building and inserting related content such as photos, video, photo galleries, maps, polls, quizzes, and data visualization objects.
  • Consistently initiates and executes new content ideas to drive traffic.
  • Stays up-to-date on news, pop culture and emerging trends.
  • Collaborates effectively with others.


30% Interactive Production

  • Creates and publishes interactives that increase audience and user engagement on
  • Brainstorms and conceptualizes unique interactives, developing graphics from the day’s news and curating from internal and external sources.



  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of interactive/multimedia design experience. It is not required that this experience was at a newspaper
  • Highly creative, excellent written and verbal communications skills, attention to detail
  • Able to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Possess working knowledge of Xml, JavaScript, ActionScript, jQuery, Flash, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Journalism background a plus
  • Committed to organization’s mission and goals.?


SALARY:  Range: $49,864 - $64,564 - $79,264 (Non-Exempt)
